Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome scholars to the 2022-2023 school year at Desert Star Academy. It's exciting to begin my journey with you this year as your new Elementary Principal. I am thrilled to be part of the Desert Star team of educators that bring your children only the best in excellence and success that education can offer. It takes a village to raise a child and with our teams support and your continued involvement together we can achieve success.
As an AVID school, Desert Star provides our scholars with college ready academics that push the students to excel. Our teachers have been all over the country this summer engaging in conferences where teachers learn to engage the whole child and support the scholars with the best instructional strategies. We are devoted to providing our scholars with the best education possible. In addition to academic excellence, we have a blast learning and have many family fun activities that are planned for the school year.
The whole Desert Star staff are excited to meet and greet each one of our scholars and their families. Thank you for entrusting us with your children and we promise to provide endless opportunities for fun paired with academic achievement.
The first day of school is Monday, August 1, 2022 and Back to School Nights are scheduled for July 26th for families with the last name A-L and July 27th for families M-Z from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Please join us to meet your teachers and meet some new classmates
Elementary School hours are from 8:00-3:30 with drop-off being no earlier than 7:30 on the elementary playground. Pledge will begin at 7:50. If you are unable to pick-up your scholar at 3:30, we offer after school care. It is offered in the Multipurpose Room closest to the Hwy 95 (Drop Zone). After school hours are from 3:30-6 for Kindergarten through 5th Grade only. Each scholar attending will be charged a $5 fee. The after school program will run Mon-Thursday. Friday scholar care is available for $10 (See Drop Zone for more details).
